learning pottery and sculpture, so I have immense respect for tools and the
makers of them. As you quite rightly say, there is nothing 'unreal' about
tools: a farmer hoeing a field; a chef measuring ingredients; a swordsman
duelling. But I was specifically referring to words and theories (as tools)
used to describe Zen. In this case they are the finger and never the moon.
Similarly, you can't cut a piece of wood by saying the word
