To me it represented the experience of Buddha Nature.

A period is sometimes referred to as a 'full stop', and that's what necessary 
sometimes to first experience Buddha Nature - a full stop of your intellect.

Although a better representation would just be an empty space, but that doesn't 
show up too well in a type-oriented forum like this.

Oh, and Edgar - if you aren't sure just what I'm talking about it's because 
it's a metaphor, so don't think too much about it.  Not getting it is okay, in 
fact not getting it but knowing you don't get it is much better than not 
getting it but thinking you do.
