The Milky Way is that wide diffuse band of light, made up of myriad stars.
It's washed-out this week because of moonlight. Wait about a week until the
sky is a little dark again.
The Clouds of Magellan are two satellite galaxies of our galaxy, which look
like "detached" bright parts of the Milky Way pulled out about 30 degrees from
the Milky Way. Aborigines in Chile believed that the Large Magellanic Cloud
was pulled out of the Coalsack: it looks like it! I have to give them that.
Heard there was some celebrating of the Solstice at Stonehenge.
