Your shame or anger for your son not speaking is because you are focusing on the expectations of others and what they might think. Kids can be enormously frustrating and sometimes we strike out. You apologized, that's about all you can do for now. Go easy with him. Perhaps he's going through his own little Zen experience? Easy does it, brother. It all balances out with love.
