Thank you!

Actually, I believe that there is another reason why a Zen list would be
more active and have more heated debates than any others. It is said that
the true Zen cannot be taught, but you must find it on your own, and that
belief would stretch over into the rest of the person's life. You must come
to your own conclusions, you must test things for yourself. When you come
to a belief through careful thought and study, you hold that belief much
closer than if you had read it from a book or had been taught it by a
master. When those beliefs would be attacked or contradicted, it is human
nature to stand up for what they believe in, and you will defend your own
found beliefs much more than you would something you just read without
researching.

A true Zen mailing list would not be silent if it was healthy. Mankind is a
very vocal species, needing the mental closeness and contact with others.
It may not be strictly Zen that is taught here, but many tangents would be
fair game as the understanding you would find in replying to others posts,
and finding other's points of view would be quite enlightening. If you can
keep an open mind, or learn to have one, then even having the worst on here
will only help, as it will teach you understanding and tolerance.
