Dear Jusan-san, In the real world people have to deal with real things. In the real world people not only call names, sometimes they are just mean. You are a former cop you of all people should know this. You may be becoming a Monk because you think that there is no violence there. I know you know it is not that there is no crap there. There is some crap here.
One thing I have always respected about you is that you do not pretend. Hojo-san has taught you to serve. It is not serving to say "quit crapping". Shit happens. It is serving to clean it up, and take it to the garden, and use the fertilizer as productively as possible. How about you quit bitching and start hauling shit to turn it into fertilizer for a productive discussion? In case you have not noted, this is what Al has done with his crap. I do not pretend I do not have any crap, and I know you well enough to know you have crap too. Our practice as Monks is to serve. It is our practice to acknowledge the crap and carry it to the garden and put it to use. It is not the practice of a Zen Monk to pretend crap should not or does not exist. This is not serving, and "not serving is no help".
