Hello, That is fine, joining groups are helpful ! I find my teacher(s) online outside of a forum, are able to understand where I am at mentally/spiritually in order to guide me with Zen and other beliefs. I am not qualified to teach you, or I gladly would ! I can offer you all the links I've found the most information, if you are only interested in Zen. If you are interested in other topics, please list them and if I have links I will add them. I can also list all the books I've found the most helpful, but that doesn't mean you will agree with me. The 3 most important guidelines I was instructed to follow are- 'do only good', 'do no evil', and 'purify your mind'... not as simple as it sounds. With daily meditation you will naturally notice small benefits in the beginning, this will convince you to continue to meditate and learn more. Look for a place in your area that offers yoga/meditation, but that can be expensive. A Zen teacher will never ask for money to teach you the Dharma. If a Sangha is located in your towne it would be wise to join them and learn from those that know the Truth. Learning about your self/Self is a personal journey and it slowly expands to include ALL. Once you find yourself, this is when you/I can help others :) Best wishes, please write anytime, if I miss your post please contact me again. Sincerely, Harmony (Jacqueline)
sorry for taking so long Harmony, i am 37 and was raised catholic > but due to things happening to me in my past i dont follow the faith or any peticular faith anymore. i do believe in some of the philosophies that buddhism teaches though. hence thats why im here to learn as much as i can about zen, buddhism etc... i feel meditating would be good for me so > i asked for some help and a few of you replied in the positive. > some good instruction and i could get started. ------------------------ Yahoo!
