Not to get too off topic, but no. Chuck Palanuk (sp?)
was obviously very well acquainted with the Self Help,
12-Step way of life when he wrote Fight Club. Dr.
Phil knows how to make a ton of money off this stuff,
and that ain't easy, though it may look it. I'm
reasonably certain he's well-acquainted with the
charlatans that came before him. He may have been
influenced by Fight Club, but I don't think there's
any evidence to support that.
Looks to me like Dr. Phil just took his cues from the
same heaping pile of bullshit that Fight Club
satirized.
