Interesting that he focuses so much on other people in
his critique. He was not able to recognize the wealth
in his "negative" experience of meditation. I used to
belong to a Unitarian church, near a university, and
there were many Ph.D.'s there who stressed the
scientific, political and social aspects of life,
always the externals; or conversely were those into
transcendental states of mind that they believed they
were able to access because of their great
intelligence.  It was simply ego stuff. It was about
the foolishness of believing you are superior to
others because you have a "rational" state of mind.
