I think that all roads lead to Rome or in this case, enlightenment. Whether or not we each get there is another question. But it is not a contest. I am not in a rush to get there ahead of anyone else. If I die without getting there, big deal. I am also going to die without ever seeing a million dollars in my bank account, and there are probably a thousand other things that I will not have accomplished. One way or the other, if you are living you are learning. If you read Zen books, you will notice that there are many different approaches. Just like some ancient masters would hit people with a stick, others were kind and polite their entire lives and had success too. Taizan Maezumi said "eat all that you can and then spit the rest out" in reference to Zen. We all can benefit in different degrees from one thing or another. There is not "one size fits all."
