>With all due respect to you and any other Zen Monk, I have no interest in >being abused by some arrogant jerk. Based on what you and Fudo have shared, >a Zen Master is just an abusive bully who squeezes all the Ego out of a >person by verbally abusing him until there is nothing left of pride, >dignity, self, ego, etc. I guess that system works, and if your soul needs >that and benefits from that, more power to you. > >I wouldn't know, I have no need of abstractions like a soul. As for the >squeezing - "I take a student and I squeeze and I squeeze and I squeeze >and then I catch what's left." - Tatsugami Roshi. It takes real strength >to undergo genuine training. If you're not up to that, better to say so >and not pretend.
There seem to be some questions of appropriate context here. This is, after all, an internet discussion forum, not Zen training with Tatsugami Roshi. Such "squeezing", it seems to me, is not going to be skillful here. In that, it is not likely to achieve it's intended result (assuming that the intention is, in fact, pure). What seems far more likely, and in fact we have seen this already, is simply the generation of a lot of heated confrontation and trading of personality views. Taking up the practice of pointing out personal flaws of total strangers seems very sketchy, to me. Ian ------------------------ Yahoo!
