I don't think that real names are the answer, because on any list that is open to the public anybody can join. All it takes is one stalker or identity-theft conman and it could have very hurtful effects on one or more innocent people. I don't know what the answer is regarding people that join a list in order to snipe at others. It brings out the worst in everyone who lacks self-control. What any healthy list requires is vigilance and discipline. The members have to be able to participate without fear of being attacked, and they need to point out when anyone is getting too agressive. Many of these discussions end up with ten people attacking one person, as was the style back when Alex used to be the whipping boy. I think it is unhealthy for everyone, let's try to play nice, and if anyone is getting too involved in a discussion, feel free to say so.
