Spider63, When unsure, always blame the dog. It's quite common for a regular meditator to store away a meditation cushion, taking it out for meditating and putting it back each time. I'm wondering why you came up with such a flimsy excuse. If you don't want to meditate, or don't believe it is beneficial, just say so and be done with it. People who meditate know it is foolish to try and convince someone it is the thing to do. The Internet will give you an abundance of info on meditation, within different traditions, with instructions; even scientific studies.

That annoying little dog pees about every hour or so. Regardless of how often the dog is taken out, he manages to pee on everything. I have been lobbying since the dog arrived (my wife got him when it was about two years old as a gift from one of her friends--who did not want it) to take it to the ASPCA for adoption (hehehe--most dogs get euthanized if they are not adopted in seven days). > > Anyhow, the dog always pees on the meditation cushion. I guess a real Zen person would sit through it, but the acrid smell makes me want to throw up. I am sort of tired of washing the cushion, and then there is my briefcase, gym bag, books, toys, and anything else that is ever on the floor. > > I feel very sorry for my daughter, as her toys are occasionally being > urinated and then they have to be washed with soap and hot water. I have brought up the issue of possible diseases from dog urine, but my wife and her mother seem to worship the dog. I guess it is the old reverse-psychology question. Maybe if I worshipped the dog then they would take it to the dog pound. > > I usually try to meditate on the treadmill at the gym or whenever I am > walking somewhere. Sometimes I meditate in a chair at home or on a bench when I go to the park. Current Book Discussion: Appreciate Your Life by Taizan Maezumi Roshi Yahoo!
