I just uploaded a zenwin zip to our site and sourceforge.  Zenwin  
let's you model and monitor windows services and will collect windows  
EventLog using WMI.  Its been around for a while but we finally wrote  
some docs and packaged it up.  This code must be installed on a  
windows machine.  If you don't want to have a second box we recommend  
running it within vmware instance on your main machine.  Zenwin is  
not very high load.
