On my FC5 box the option to syslogd is -r for remote listening.

Hi all

Quick Question on Syslog , I have googled this so many times but I must be doing it wrong , because I cant seem to find any documentation on how to stop a linux syslog daemon from listening on its own port locally , with syslog-ng it is very easy but wit hsyslog it keeps on opening port 514 for itself and logging to itself , does anyone have any tips for how one can force the old syslog to not open the port on the local server and instead send the info to the remote server ?

I am getting some info from the remote box on zenoss somehow while it is listening on its own udp port 514 but the info I really want like failed logins etc etc

Regards
