Disabling the firewall on the box didnt work, but flushing the firewalls using "iptables -F" worked , its working fine now.

Most likely, MySQL has nothing to do with this issue.

If you are not able to connect, I think there are only two
possibilities:

1) the Zenoss software is not running ("zeoctl start"  and "zopectl
start"), or
2) something is preventing TCP connections (possibly a software
firewall on your box)
