Hi,

your System Syslog might still run.
You only have to disable the external port 514 from your syslog conf.

An: General discussion of using zenoss system
Betreff: [zenoss-users] syslogd server question

Hello!

I installed the zenoss/
but i have got a question about syslogd server

I read Documentation section on zenoss site and I have read install.txt.

there is a phrase in section 2 "2. Configure Daemons"
2.4. Zenoss Syslog Collector
---------------------------------------------------------------

- Start zensyslog (it will need to be run as root to open its socket):

    bash$ $ZENHOME/bin/zensyslog start

on URL http://zenoss.com/docs/install_freebsd you can read
6. Add in these lines to rc.conf:

    snmpd_enable="YES"
    snmpd_flags="-a -p /var/run/snmpd.pid"
    syslog_enable="NO"
    mysql_enable="YES"
    syslog_enable="NO"

My question is if I turn off the OS system syslog where the system
syslog messages "now they are in /var/log messages" go?
Where can I find the system syslog messages when I turn off the system
syslog?

Thank you in advance?
 Valery
