Hi Gabriel,
Did you restart the snmp agent on the remote host after updating its
configuration?
$ sudo /etc/init.d/snmpd restart
Assuming you did that, are you able to reach this remote host without an
interfering router or firewall? Try this from the Zenoss command line:
$ snmpwalk -v 1 -c public OtherHostName
If this doesn't work, you probably have a network connectivity problem.
If you do not control the network to your remote system, you may wish to
look into the Zenoss plugins, which will work on most linux systems and
will provide you with a lot of performance data.
Currently we do not collect performance data using only SSH: we rely on
remotely executable programs like cacti, nagios, or Zenoss plugins to
provide the information in a platform-independent fashion.

Hello Zenoss Users List,
I sent the attached "SNMP Configuration Not Producing Expected Results". After
a while, I tried the SSH Configuration for Zenoss to model & monitor the Agent
System. With that Zenoss was able to get a lot more information about the
Agent System. However, the the Networks IP Address Screen still displays
"None" for the "Ping" & "SNMP" cells that corresponds to the Agent System.
Plus, the information in the Devices Agent System "Status", "OS", "Hardware"
and "Perf" Screens still are not producing the expected results.
For the "OS" screen, I figured that I have to manually specify "True" for all
the "IP Services" that I want Zenoss to monitor. In the "File Systems"
section, the monitor is to "True" by default. I checked to ensure it was
"True" for each File System in the Mount Column. The "Total bytes" field
displays the correct size for each File System. However, the "Used bytes",
"Free bytes", "% Util" fields for all the mounts displays "unknown".
I checked the "Hardware" and "Perf" Screens. I did identify a way to enable
the monitoring.
Please let me know what other configurations are required for me to get the
Expected Results.
Thanks,
Gabe

Hello Zenoss Users List,
I performed the SNMP Configuration for one system that I want Zenoss to model
and monitor. That way, I can figure out the SNMP Configuration for the rest of
the systems I want Zenoss to model & monitor. The SNMP Configuration does not
produce the results I expect in Zenoss.
I am using the Zenoss VMware Appliance. I noticed that Zenoss Server is able
to model and monitor itself properly. Therefore, I copied the SNMP
Configuration File on the Zenoss VMware Appliance, and changed the target
system to the Zenoss Serve. However, that still did not work.
I can see that Zenoss is able to get some information from the SNMP
Configuration. That leads me to conclude that the SNMP Configuration & Service
is working fine.
I read through the Zenoss Administrators Guide below. It did not cover much
detail about the SNMP Configuration.
http://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/zenoss/ZenossAdminGuide-1.1.pdf
I spent a lot of time searching through the Zenoss Users List. I did not find
anything to assist me.
At this point I am concluding that there is more massaging that I need to with
the Agent System in order for Zenoss to model and monitor it. Please let me
know if there is anything special I need to do with the Agent SNMP
Configuration or System for Zenos to model and monitor it.
Please help.
Thanks,
Gabriel Donnell
