I'm blunck2 btw. If I missed responding to someone's question I
apologize - the volume on zenoss-users has significantly increased in
the past few months and I'm having a difficult time keeping up! If I
dropped a response to a response I sent to someone's question feel
free to ping me again directly with a "hey whats up with this
answer?!" and it'll float up to the top of the list.
Regarding your 64 bit question...
Source based installs work under 64 bit Linux platforms. We're still
choppy under Solaris 10, but Linux works on what we've tested (FC6
and CentOS 4.3). But source based installs aren't as easy to
maintain as RPMs (imo).
We have a 64 bit RPM we built under CentOS 4.3. It links against 64
bit everything, including Python. If you'd like to try it out let me
know and I can send you a link off-list.
If you want to use the official 32 bit RPM then you are correct in
thinking that you'll need a 32 bit python. And once you get into
that area you'll start needing a lot of other 32 bit stuff.
My recommendation is to try out our 64 bit CentOS 4.3 RPM. If it
doesn't work you can take the src rpm and build a 64 bit binary RPM
for your platform. That's worked for us every time...
