I know, bad form by responding to my own post but I found the answer I was looking for. So here is the solution and explination for future refrence. First increase zIpServiceMapMaxPort to the highest port number you wish to monitor. If Zenoss finds the ports it dynamically generates entries for those services in the catalog. Clicking on then as if to turn on monitoring will give you a link to /Service/tcp_#####. form there you can edit it and rename the service and save it in the catalog. This post may now be banned to the end of the stack :D
