Once you add it zenoss will scan everyone. You will have to remodel:
$ zenmodeler run -v 10
If you want to use the portscanner to find those ports, there are some
other settings you may have to tweak.
You could use the nagios plugin capability.
See the admin guide.
Use zenoss... keep the plugin. No node left behind.

Thanks for the assistance. Yes, by Check I do mean make sure the device is
accepting connections on 23.
However, in this case the device accepts connections on port 8023 and 8024. Do I just
create new service monitors with telnet and tcp/udp port 8023 and another tcp/udp port
8024? Just clarifying on what you mentioned. Once a service is set to "True"
for monitoring Zenoss will automatically scan all the devices in the system for that open
port and add into the Count field those devices under the telnet 8023 and telnet 8024 as
long as those devices accept connections on those ports? Or do I have to manually
collect configuration?
Just tried to create a service to monitor and I'm unable to put in a port to have it
monitor on so I'm not sure what to do in this case. In the list of services it shows as
"Port 0" but if I try to edit the service I cannot see a place to input what
port I want to monitor (If I click on a service that is existing in zenoss [telnet] and
edit that I can see where to input a port).
