After re-reading the "zProperties" section of the manual, I see that
zEventClearClasses is listed as "A list of classes that a clear event
should clear in addition to its own class".  Which now tells me that by
setting those events with type 'clear', it would clear the whole class -
so as you stated, I would have to create separate subclasses for each
pair or group of events for which I want auto-clearing to happen.

It will be a bit, but not impossible - I'd just thought there was a way
to have an event cause another specific event to clear out, and didn't
realize the behavior of "clear" events is to clear all other events of
the same class.

Go find yourself a copy of .1.3.6.1.4.1.318 (enterprises.PowerNet-MIB).
 While I appreciate the assistance, please don't presume to know the
list of traps in front of me better than I do.
