I am working with a Fedora Core 6 box on which I have installed XAMPP 1.6.0.
XAMPP of course contains a full array of tools - Apache, MySQL, etc, etc. How
do I get Zenoss to recognize the MySQL provided by XAMPP? I have tried
everything I can think of all day now and I absolutely cannot get it to work.
I even chose the mysql-dev package on Fedora and tried to install it alone and
reference it - but that doesn't work because it's just the dev portions of
mysql and not the full gamut apparently.

I desperately want to get Zenoss working with XAMPP's MySQL because every
single solitary other thing I run on this entire box runs against the XAMPP
stack without issues. I simply cannot specialize just for one tool, when all
my other tools run problem free.

As long as MySQL is version 5.0.22 or newer you should be fine. If
you're running into problems with the Zenoss installer complaining
about MySQL dependencies you can install the RPM with the --nodeps
option.
