I get the same thing in my log.
WMI is working fine, graphs and all, for 3 windows systems on the
same subnet as the zenoss machine. I ran in to issues with the
machine on a remote subnet, and started troubleshooting WMI
connectivity from my local subnet.
Once I was able to successfully follow this test:
http://www.zenoss.com/community/docs/howtos/how-to-test-wmi-
connectivity/?searchterm=%20wmi
I still couldn't get rid of the error event:
ERROR_SEM_TIMEOUT: The semaphore timeout period has expired. (121)
When I looked at the zenwinmodeler logs, I find the same message
corresponding to each time I cleared the error and it was alerted
again.
My only reservation about this issue is that this particular
machine was part of a domain at one point, and some left over
settings may be preventing WMI from working properly. This machine
was the only one that I needed to do anything to in order to get
mbemtest to work properly. As it turns out, wbemtest working
doesn't necessarily guarantee wmi will work in zenoss.
Johnny,
Have you checked the eventlog on the remote Windows system to see if
any errors are registering there? You may also want to check to see
if the Windows or any other firewall is enabled.
