unfortunately that's just not possible.

in many cases the branch belongs to a "subsidiary" and therefore, the
communication of the monitoring data is done through a vpn.

therefore the monitoring is done with a server in the remote location, which
monitors lan devices (ping, snmp, other data) and returns the data to the
central office.

therefor the method of allowing the central to monitor the devices directly is
not possible, or would be badly broken by the high latency involved in the WAN
transit via the vpn.

some offices have very low bandwidth links, so it wouldn't even be possible at
all.

therefor the only solution that works is to use the appliance at the remote
location and synchronize the data with the central office via ZenHUB.

even what's listed as needing access to port 8080 on the remote appliances may
not be possible in our environment.

what if the WAN link goes down? the branch office data should be accessible
from the central office - up to the point of the loss of communications.

there are too many common scenarios that just cause issues in these areas.
