It appears as if it's reporting 'no space left on device'.   When I get those 
messages, it's generally because the VMWare image doesn't have enough memory 
allocated to it.   The lack of memory causes the image to attempt paging and 
other nasty things which results it out of disk errors.

   After verifying that the disk that the image is residing on really isn't 
full, try increasing the amount of RAM given to the image and try the operation 
again.
