This is something that has been asked about again and again (and looks like
it should be obvious, as you've done). It's easy enough to do in the likes
of Nagios, et. al, but it appears that Zenoss has determined this is an
"enterprise feature".

I can understand that for the "hosted monitoring" enterprise, but in smaller
companies such as ours I'd like to be able to let DBA's only see database
servers, etc. They barely know what a switch or router is, so why show them
the extra devices.

To me, as a system administrator, ACLs should be a basic part of any system.
No one in their right minds provides access to everything to people who
don't need it.

Subject: [zenoss-users] Delegating views

Hey all, apologies (again) if this has come into discussion before but I
find no documentation nor correspondence about this. Zenoss is running fine
(thanks to developers who put their time into this project by the way). My
monitoring set up is something similar to this:

Central monitoring site:

Customer A
   1 server
   1 switch
   1 router

Customer B
   5 servers
   2 switches
   1 router

Customer A
   1 server
   1 switch
   1 router

Customer B
   5 servers
   2 switches
   1 router

I wanted to add a user customerAname and give customerAname rights to see
solely his information. I created the user giving him the role of
zenMonitor, Dashboard organizer "groups", admin level 5, "Administered
Objects" devices in his group.

How do I minimize the ability for him to browse around and see solely his
devices? Again, sorry if this is a repeat question to some, I could not find
information on Google (zenoss +role +delegation +view).

Thanks in advance.
