I have the 2.1.0 vmware appliance running on VMware ESX Server 3.0.1 build-32039 and everything is looking good. I've added a couple of devices and I'm collecting data and producing graphs.
Let me take you through the process I went through to get it up and running on ESX. NOTE: Since this is not a VMware ESX image you'll have to convert the image. Instructions below. 1) Unzip the image 2) Move the image to a visible ESX datastore 3) Run this command on the unzipped file Code: vmkfstools -i <name of image>.vmdk <new name of image>.vmdk Now have you have an ESX image 4) Go to your ESX Infrastructure Client 5) File -> New -> VM OR New Virtual Machine 6) Select "Custom" VM Config 7) Name your VM 8) Select the datastore where you put your image 9) As the Guest OS, select "Linux" version "Other Linux" 10) Select number processors. I used 1. 11) Set the memory for the VM at 356 or higher. I used 356MB. 12) Set up your network connections 13) ...and Storage Adapter Types 14) Select "Use an existing virtual disk 15) Browse to the file on your esx datastore Complete the last step on the wizard and then power on your new VM! If you are experience, specific errors let me know. I'll keep this appliance up so that I can reproduce any symptoms you might find.
