There are certain times that we do have an entire set of servers that should be 
in maintenance mode, but more often the scenario is that the DBAs or some other 
group is working on a box and they give us notice that they will be bouncing 
the machine several times or stopping and starting services, etc., so we will 
put that server into maintenance mode until they tell us they're done.  Keeps 
us from getting lots of false pages and waking people up at night.  So this 
manual maintenance mode needs to persist until I put it back into production, 
and should be able to survive a scheduled Maintenance Window (which is what the 
"Original" end state is supposed to be used for I would think).
