Hello All,

First time poster, long time reader.

I have been running Zenoss for around 5 months now to monitor 72 cisco routers
and switches and most things work very nicely. I have recently upgraded to
v2.1.1 because I was hoping that dependencies would be improved in this version.

After reading a number of posts about dependencies it seems like many people
have problems with them but there is no fix.

I am trying to minimize the number of alerts that I get, for example if a
remote site router goes down I would only like to recieve 1 alert not 20
telling me all the switches are down at the site too.

I have been trying to tune zenping by adding in static routes to all of my
sites on the routers but this still does not seem to work.

My networks are arranged:
Main site - 10.100.0.0/16
Remote Sites - 10.110.0.0/16 to 10.190.0.0/16

Each site has an number of vlans for network management, users etc.
Main site network mgmt - 10.100.12.0/22
Main site user - 10.100.28.0/22
Remote site network mgmt - 10.110.12.0/22

I was just wondering if I could get some guidance on how I should be
configuring Zenoss device dependencies, or should I configure alerting rules to
filter the unwanted alerts?

Sorry for the length of my post but I wanted to give as much info as possible.

Please let me know if you require anything more to help with your reply.

Thankyou in advance.
