I have upgraded to the latest Zenoss version today. Here are my steps, I hope
this helps.

Step1. Stop all Zenoss process /etc/init.d/zenoss stop
Step2. Change to the Zenoss user
           su zenoss
Step3. Download the Zenoss source file:
     wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/zenoss/zenoss-2.1.2-0.tar.gz
Step4. Extract the contents of zenoss-2.1.2-0.tar.gz
      tar -zxvf zenoss-2.1.2-0.tar.gz
Step5. Edit build-functions.sh for Python Path:
       vim build-functions.sh
         Line:62
I have edited it to look like this:

                      for p in /usr/local/zenoss/bin/python2.4
                      do
Step6. Now run the Zenoss-2.1.2-0 install:
           ./install.sh
I had issues everytime that I told it Yes to use my existing database, but
sense I had not gathered a lot of stats I ended up telling it No and the zenoss
install went great.

I am not running the latest version of Zenoss on Fedora 8.
