Thanks for the responces guys. For some reason up2date is a pain in my butt and doesn't want to remove things properly so I'm debating wether or not I just want to reinstall fresh and make sure mysql doesn't get installed initially then just download and install mysql 5 from rpm, or continue to fiddle with it. In any event thanks for your help and I'll give those things a try!
