Don't worry, it is not just your butt;-) RHEL 4 can be a wretched beast to get 
dependencies right, and up2date is even worse than yum.

But, rant aside, if you won't lose anything by re-installing, that will be by 
far the easiest option. Then just try to install the Zenoss deps rpm and so on, 
following the install guide 
(http://www.zenoss.com/community/docs/install-guides/install-on-el4/).
