Yes, I found that information too. And have since disabled pinging.

However that is only half of the problem. I would like it to monitor via snmp 
and not just disable ping.

I have set up a new monitor and haven't seen a way to do this.

Currently this is how it is acting.

I have added a server that is not pingable using the noping monitor I set up.

The system status stays up, and snmp data is gathered like normal.

However when I shut down the ethernet interface on that server the server isn't 
recognized as being down. It does mark snmp as not being available.

Once the interface is back up, I can do an snmpwalk like normal against the 
server, however zenoss never recognizes snmp is back up and starts monitoring 
again.
