Dont forget Zenoss itself supports ssh collection. There are already some plugins for parsing commands on a linux host.
Check out $ZENHOME/Products/DataCollector/plugins/zenoss/cmd You could always do that so things are more centralized. Some of their plugins in the interest of portability are rather complex. But if you know all the details of the system and the command output you could write a very simply parser for that as well.
