Folks

I have a dell laptop with a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller Enternet
Nic version 4.52.0.0 and a VMWare Workstation 5.5.1 build 19175

In running the latest Zenoss 2.1.3 VMWare appliance for windows I have found
that it can not connect to the physical adapter (the broadcom)

This happens when I do the following command ifup eth0 and it checks for the IP
address.

The modinfo for b44 says that the module for the broadcom exists but at version
1.0 and is loaded into the kernel.

I have tried to un-install this module and to load the latest driver for Linux
from Broadcom however I can't as there is no make command with the VMWare
applicable de facto Linux 2.6.x OS that Zenoss requires to run.

Make goal is to evaluate this product on our test machines, however they are
laptops. I may try to use a Intel Nic on dell desktop, but prefer to make
minimal changes in the evaluation of this promising but frustrating CMDB (a
nirvana for me).

Please can you guys in Zenoss update this VMWare appliance or allow us to
update the drivers for this install by adding and cateloging the instructions
to update drivers.

I appreciate full and detailed assistance with this issue.

Charlie

PS Host and NAT connections work locally on the private network with host and
guest os. But for connection to our company network I need to have full network
access via bridged connections.
