I don't quite grasp how performance templates are assigned to interfaces, how they're linked/inherited? Does this happen during modeling? How would you add a different template?
For instance, on my routers zenoss is trying to use the ethernetCSmacd template to trend performance on every interface, thats fine, but its also trying to use it on T1 and DS3 controllers, which don't apply.
