Have you looked at the sprint packages at
http://www.zenoss.com/community/code/zenoss-2.2/zenoss-core-2-2, which seems
to include rpms or a source tarball and install guides for Fedora Core 8.

On my last src install on Ubuntu I noticed that zenoss now includes its own
copy of Python 2.4 to get around what the platform provides.
