You're right. wmic, the Samba tool that Zenoss includes does not work with Win2K8. I haven't spent much time to figure out why, but there is a workaround that I'm currently using. My solution is agentless and uses WMI, but it relies on a couple different tools, specifically, sblim-wbemcli and OpenPegasus. OpenPegasus runs on a single Windows host. Zenoss uses wbemcli to query remote Windows servers through the proxy. I plan to package up a ZenPack very soon.
