It can absolutely be done via "event transforms" - look in the wiki/how-tos for examples of how to transform file system /perf alerts. My problem is that I have no idea what the data point(s) being collected is called. I've tried grepping through some of the sources and have looked at teh API docs, but I can't find anything. I have this problem commonly - it would be really nice if someone with the knowledge could put together a list of common values that might be used in transforms.
