I don't know, for me this seems to be getting into Asset Management
rather than monitoring. If Zenoss does want to get into CMDB style
stuff, I'd think it might make sense to look at what's been done with
GLPI + OCSNG for instance (also GPLed, so should be able to cross use
stuff, at least in CORE) rather than re-inventing the wheel.
I'm also not sure the views and design Zenoss has makes sense for say
licensing and wholesale note taking - it really is (and IMHO should
stay) focused on really good monitoring and alerting etc... Until that
is solid, including things like Layer 2 maps and dependencies, trying to
go outside the problem domain I think would just add bugs.

This is a great idea. The ability to upload documents, images, etc. with regards to particular
device classes, individual devices, locations, systems, groups. I would call it a
"Reference" or "Notes" tab rather than a documents tab.
