... I got down and dirty with zenoss :-) zenhub was not running, and starting it manually gave me some more info. Then a little reading of the ZEO.cache code and some web searching yielded the result that the zenhub persistent cache file was corrupt.
It is safe to delete these files when the corresponding daemon is not running (which zenhub wasn't). But, to be sure I stopped zenoss entirely and then removed the file. Solution: Code: /etc/rc.d/init.d/zenoss stop rm $ZENHOME/var/zenhub-1.zec /etc/rc.d/init.d/zenoss start Hope this helps some others ...
