Zenoss does do a port scan - see on the OS tab of the device the IP
Services? Those ports are checked by Zenoss to see if they are accepting
connections and hence "up". Also, every 6 hrs or so when Zenoss
re-models the device it will do an entire port scan I believe to add or
remove IP services (unless those services are locked)...
