If use the "zInterfaceMapIgnoreNames" setting under my "Switches" device class. I didn't care about perfomance stats on any of my 500 switch ports, so I told it to ignore the following interface names:
^(VLAN 1|unrouted VLAN|sc0|FastEthernet|GigabitEthernet|10/100 utp ethernet|10/100/1000 utp ethernet|gigabit ethernet without GBIC installed|short wave fiber gigabit ethernet|StackPort1|StackSub-St1-1|StackSub-St1-2|Null0) It DRAMATICALLY reduced my system's overhead. Once you add interfaces into this list, they will automagically disappear after the next modeling. I've made a separate category for switches w/ stats that I can move switches to if I need to collect stats from them for any reason. I prefer this method over the mass disable option (since I couldn't make it work) since it allows me to use the stock install and not customize things too much. -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=24508#24508 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
