I found this post very interesting as its the same issue I am dealing with.

I have Cisco Cat 6509's in closets that I want to monitor, and there are some
ports / interfaces I want to monitor on them but not every port. However
Zenoss sets the monitor to true for every port making you have to go back and
set the monitor to False on hundreds of ports.

I am new to Zenoss so there is alot I don't know. I tried setting the
zInterfaceMapIgnoreNames to ^(Vlan|unrouted VLAN) similiar to what Andrew
posted but only to ignore the Vlan interfaces.

This does not seem to work for me though. I even tried doing the "remodel" of
the device and nothing changes.

Seems I can delete the interfaces from Zenoss but they come back when you do
the Model Device again.

I was able to use the Tip and Trick using the zendmd and set all interfaces to
False, but it seems that after doing that I don't get CPU and Memory Pref
counters.

Who knows... Zenoss is nice I give you that, but darn thing is a beast. It's
free so I can complain but for some reason I found Solarwinds to be much more
intuitive. Probably doesn't say much about me. :-)
