I think webpass' suggestion is probably the closest thing I'm aware of in Zenoss Core. If you look, it has you installing Zenoss remotely, but turning most everything off so the footprint is minimal. It's a bit of a manual process, but it's been reported to work. That said, what you're describing that you want are features in Enterprise: Distributed Monitoring and Configuration and the Global Dashboard.
