Situation description: have a number of hosts - some behind VPN. Zenoss is monitoring hosts and services etc. Every time the VPN goes down (and it happens occasionally because of a buggy VPN solution) I get 40+ messages for ALL hosts and services behind VPN. Very annoying, since I forward the messages to my phone as SMS-es!
Now I recall from the days of playing with Nagios that there could be defined relations like "A depends on B", which meant that if B fails, then it is obvious, that A cannot be functional and there was no extra message for things behind B. So as to the above example, I'd define the VPN gw as the upstream dependency for the hosts behind VPN and then would get only messages for it going down when it happens. But NOT for every host/service behind VPN. Does something like this exist in Zenoss? If not, could it be made to be a feature, please? :) Or, if dependencies/hierarcies is too big a bite, could there be a way of summarizing messages when forwarding? Something like "host down, 10 services on it too"? -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://forums.zenoss.com/viewtopic.php?p=30691#30691 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
