Hi, I have a question about Alerting rules I cant find the answer for. I'm looking into setting up alerting rules for my servers.
What I wonder is in this scenario: I have a switch I want to monitor and behind this switch there are let say 6 servers. These 6 servers are depending on that swich for network connectivity. If the switch goes down. all 7 times will be marked as down. But for my report I only need to know that the switch is down. Is it possible to create an Alerting Rule which only reports the top item in the hierarchy? I'm thinking about sending out sms so I dont want it to send out 7 sms or maybe 48 if the switch handles more. I only need one which tells me the switch is down. Or lets say I have a virtualservernod which hosts 10 containers. I only need to know that the Hardware node is down. I dont need the 10 containsers emailed to me saying that they are down. I know this by the mainserver beeing down. I hope this makes sence.
