Parsing the release notes for 2.3.3, I see:

ticket #4165-When adding a device through the Web interface, hardware and
operating system data (shown on the Status tab) is not populated.

I had noticed this in the earlier version but now, when I add a new device (A
Dell 1955 running RHEL 4), the fields are filled in but not the way I would
expect:

HW Make: Generic
HW Model: .1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.3.2.10
OS Make: Unknown
OS Version: Linux 2.6.9-67.0.20.ELsmp

The only part of this that is meaningful and/or correct is the OS version.

If I go to the edit tab and change the HW Manufacturer to "Dell", the HW
Product goes to blank and has to be selected.

If I change the OS Manufacturer to "RedHat", the OS Product goes blank and has
to be re-selected.

My question is (since I am relatively new to Zenoss): Is this the expected
behavior?

If so, this doesn't seem to be any improvement over not having the fields
filled in when I add the server (the original bug) since I have to change all
of them (including the one that is correct) anyway.

Thanks.
