Ultimately, I think the problem is related to the linux kernel version having these ridiculous i/o wait time issues in Centos 5.2... I have made some tweaks and I think things are getting better. Also, yes, tweaking that setting does affect the output. I was hoping for some sysctl tuning due to open files or something nice and obvious like that. :) Once we're out of dev with this tool and into testing, I'll try to post more data and update this thread when we know. Right now there are missing data points due to devs restarting services, etc and so its hard to track down.
